I went scuba diving here on 5/21/2023. Average viz: 26-30ft/8-9m. Water temp: 76-80°F/24-27°C.
Lots of small stuff this time, not the big angelfish and grouper I am used to. Still a very cool dive, lots of interesting creatures hiding out. Variety of life rivals a boat dive, wish that the trek to get to the water was easier.

For some reason shore dives always give us trouble. Once we finally got under the water though everything worked out. The beach has eroded a lot by the west side of the jetty and accumulated off shore making the diving on the gulf side very shallow until you get almost to the end where it starts dropping off to about 30 feet. Lots of big stuff hanging out at the end though and lots of colorful coral and sponges. By the time we got there the tide was heading out. Once we felt the pull we turned around. Want to try it again with better timing.

Pay close attention the the currents, this is a drift dive that can be challenging in strong current. I perfeer diving here during slack tide,

I went scuba diving here on 8/20/2016. Average viz: 21-25ft/6-8m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C.
Great dive, timed high slack very well, visibility was pretty nice 20-25. Saw a lot of critters, toad fish, blue angelfish, lots of sheepshead, white grunts, some juvenile gag grouper, stone crabs, a few lion fish and other divers reported seeing a goliath. Spotted my first blenny, the hp100 provided a nice hour long dive.

This was where I conducted my four dives for my Open Water Certification. I don’t have a experience to compare it to. Had a great time and saw lots of fish.

Great conditions in October with a ton of wild life and shells. Currents can be swift towards the end though.
