I was just OW cert. this weekend and do not feel completely comfortable in the deep blue yet. I would like to work on buoyancy, trim, etc... before I leave for Bonaire in April (I don`t want to be crashing into any reefs!). Is there anyone in the Houston area who has access to a pool or would like to accompany me to Blue Lagoon in Huntsville to help me with this?

When are you going in April? I have something going on every weekend in April until the 28th, or I would be happy to help you out. Where did you get your OW? Most LDS will let you use their pool, if you took your class from them.

Hey Shannon, I use my community pool in Cypress, TX for training which has an 11 foot deep end. This weekend`s class is private...but I will have another class on April 14th. Contact me if you want to join us. You can just hang out underwater while I teach some new Open Water students.

Thanks for the offer. I just might take you up on that. I don`t have anything planned for the 14th, I leave for Bonaire on the 16th. As long as my gear is somewhat dry enough for packing I am good to go. A couple of thoughts: How much would you charge for the service and where can I rent a tank? I don`t think my LDS (Sea Sports Scuba) rents tanks, but I can check. Also, what is the water temp? Thanks for the reply and I hope to hear from you soon. Shannon

I wouldn`t charge anything if you just wanted to tag along with us and practice floating. Maybe you can just provide some "new diver" commentary to the students. Sea Sports should rent tanks...if not, if I have an extra one after my students get theirs...then you can rent one from me for $5 for the dive. Send me an email to gadavis2 [ at ] hotmail.com for directions and times. Later.

Have you ever been to Bonaire? Before you can dive on your own there, you have to complete a checkout dive with one of the local dive masters. They are very strict on buoyancy but also very friendly and helpfull. Dive the Hilma Hooker, it`s awesome!!! Look for sea horses at Oil Slick in about 30ft. There`s an old spanish anchor at Karpatta in 34ft. I go to Bonaire about three times a year and the diving keeps getting better. We are going in March 08, join us if you want, we have a blast. parrotislanddivers.com
