THE HUBBY AND I DECIDED TO DIVE ATHENS SCUBA TODAY. THE VISABILITY WAS AWFUL. LOTS OF SWIMMERS AND END OF SUMMER SEASON. VISABILITY WAS AT THE MOST 5 FEET. DISAPPOINTMENT!

HAS ANYONE DONE ANY DIVING IN THE AUSTIN TEXAS AREA? WE ARE LOKKING AT GOING TO LAKE TRAVIS LABOR DAY WEEKEND WITH ANOTHER COUPLE. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I’ve been to Windy Point Park on Lake Travis quite a few times. It’s a fun dive site...but the viz is never that great. The contour underwater is pretty cool though with plenty to see. Check out this dive site on divebuddy.com:

I dive Lake Travis frequently when I am not deployed. Realize if you don’t get in the water early, the students will stir it up in the shallow depths. Last year, about this time, the visibility was great below 60 feet. My wife is still in the area and dives with our local shop if you have any questions about the current state of the Windy Point Diving. Another recommendation if you just want to blow bubbles. The Comal River, great vis, great temp, lots to see....just shallow. I like it for treasure hunting...tubers lose a lot of neat stuff. good luck.

I did a dive off Windy Point in Lake Travis on the 19th of July. Visiblity was very low. This was my first dive in in Travis and was very disappointing. I knew visibility would probably be low but it was bad, the limestone really makes is merky.

two weeks ago on Sunday at 8am there was a visibility of over 15’ at Mansfield Dive park in Lake Travis.

I saw the entire airplane from tip to tail, it was pretty cool, best I have ever seen there.
