 Flower Gardens??

Just got certified and am planing on taking an advanced cert this fall. I would like to plan a trip to the flower gardens for the end of sept just as I am wrapping up the advanced class. For anyone who has made the trip out there, what was your experience level at the time? How did you feel about the level of ease or difficulty? Are there any things you would have done differently or would like to change about your experience if you could?? Any other info or tips you can give would be much appreciated.

Congrats on the cert. I am pretty new to and have not heard about the flower gardens. Where are they?

The Flower Gardens are about 100 mi off the coast of TX/LA. There are boats that leave from Galveston and you can go for a weekend all inclusive for 500 bucks.

The Flower Gardens are great and the gulf is usually pretty calm the time of year, but it is the peak of hurricane season too.


For the price about $600/PP for the Fling you could have more dive days in Cozumel. Check out member SK290’s trip for the end of Aug

But for the trip to cozumel that doesnt include airfare right? I know the flower gardens trip isnt "cheap" but for anyone who is driving distance from Galveston or another port where a boat is leaving it is an affordable dive trip. I live an hour away from Galveston so travel to the boat isnt a problem. I still want to go to cozumel too...and Hawaii....lol..and Bali...the Galapagos...the list goes on..lol.

I’m an Advanced Diver wanting to go to the Flower Garden’s either Labor Day Weekend or the 21-23rd of Sept. I heard it can be a challenging dive if conditions go bad. My buddy is an instructor so if we can find a spot for 5-600 dollars that would be great. I think the posted price right now on the fling is like $800
