Cannon from ’Napoleon’s warship’ found off Italian coast

telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/22/cannon-from-napol...d-off-italian-coast/

The Italian Navy has released underwater video of a bronze cannon, reportedly from a warship in Napoleon’s fleet that was sunk during a naval battle with the British Royal Navy in March 1795.

The battle is historically considered the first victory of Admiral - but then Captain - Horatio Nelson.

He was in command of the 64-gun HMS Agamemnon.

The battle took place in the Legurian Sea. The French warships were apparently sailing from Tolone and heading to Corsica when they were intercepted by the British Fleet.
