Hi,
I would suggest joining the following meetup groups (meetup.com):
- South Florida Beach Divers (we do monthly beach nightdives - I’ll let you know),
- Gold Coast Scuba Divers, and
- Go Dive Florida Meetup (Although you really need AOW and Nitrox for most of their Dives)
I dive frequently about 3-4 times per month so let me know when you want to dive and we can program something.
I also really recommend getting AOW and Nitrox certified as most of the really cool dives (Especially in the Keys) in FL require them.

Thanks so much for the response! I am a member of all three meetup groups already. It appears there are tons of really cool dives to participate in. I’ve yet to actually go to one because I’d rather attend with someone I know is safe and, quite frankly, nice. LOL So far, I’m lining up dives with either people I already know or new friends but still very interesting in making connections in the local dive community.
You dive a lot. Is that mostly with the meetups? Yes, definitely, let’s put together a dive. :0)
Thanks for the tip on the AOL and Nitrox. I’ve noticed that on a lot of things I am interested in.

Hop in that car and drive up to the North Florida Springs, don’t limit yourself to South Florida. …0p

Some of my personal favorites are Ginnie Springs for the easy entry level access and camping sites along the river with access for kayaking and tubing to keep even the non-divers entertained.
I also enjoy Blue Grotto for the depth and easy access cavern along with some excellent facilities (bring the charcoal and burgers).
Troy Springs is another good entry level spring dive located in a state park environment.
The advantages to the springs are no boat ride, no waves or seasickness, easy shore or platform entry, no after dive gear rinsing is required since it’s freshwater, short walking distance to actual dive site is usually less than 100 feet away from picnic benches and most if not all have showers, bathrooms and changing facilities.

Awesome, Dave, thanks!!! My friend who is coordinating the Nov Dive is including also either BG or GS, don’t remember which, but I’m in!!!!
Considering I spent all my boat time yaking off the side yesterday, these all sound fun. I’m going to do my homework and maybe check one or two out on my vacay next month. Thanks again, Dave!!
