AOW or new fins

Tomorrow I’m going to the dive shop and can’t make up my mind. Do I go for the AOW course, or get Scuba Pro Nova Seawing fins. AOW is only a few bucks more, but I need better fins than I have now.

Better fins? Wow I used the same fins for 30 years. I handed them down to a friend. So I did get some new ones off eBay from a local shop... They were $150 fins for $40. Personally id get my AOW

Same here. I would opt for the AOW course. Then I would buy used fins on eBay or Craigslist.

I’m hoping to do the class and get the fins at the same time now. But I agree with the class being the number 1 priority.

I know your post was from a long time ago, but unless your previous fins were something even floppier, like split fins, I hope you chose more training over fancy flexy fins that would only cause more work in trying to move your body and gear through the water.

If you really did need better fins[ I hope you chose some normal reasonably stiff fins that work efficiently with all types of kick strokes used in diving. There’s a reason this basic design is still prefered by experienced divers, while the fancy but not very useful "latest" designs come and go.

The opinions expressed here are mine alone and do not necessarily reflect the views of any other diver (though I suspect maybe they do).
