Hi, has anyone been diving in Dahab, Egypt? I am going there end of June and conscious that it’s going to be very hot. Also travelling on my own, so not sure how safe it is...

Please share your experience :) any advice is appreciated :)

Thanks

As of March of this year. The government of Egypt has crushed women’s rights. I would stay away. The US gov. is still giving aid to Egypt though. And the social order in Egypt is unstable.

I would suggest that you don’t travel overland and as the nearest airport is in Sharm, you would have a two or so hour drive to get to Dahab. There have been tourists kidnapped and quickly released in the recent past with no harm done and the comment from the lady who was kidnapped was that she was treated very well. Sharm offers a good option. Airport is right there and therefore little exposure outside of a tourist complex. Oonas Dive Club at the top of Naama Bay is pretty good and the staff contains quite a few long term members from England. It is always my choice when I head there. My guy in Dahab quit when the tourism dropped with the shark hysteria a few years ago and no one was allowed in the water for a while.
