I’ll be gone most of Saturday morning, but if you’re interested Saturday night or anytime Sunday, I’ll go anywhere local for sure. What’s your favorite place thus far? I loved Morrison Springs for the cave, but my experience hasn’t gone past that, Vortex, Destin Jetties, and Laguna.

If you interested in night dives Pensacola Ft Pickens is great and tides are good for that this week. Are you free any night except week ends?

I am, actually. Do you need anything special for a night dive besides a light? That’s the only thing I have I could think of that is night-diving centric.

That’s it just a light. Great dive and lots to see. You can drop down to about 45 feet but average would be about 20 feet so can get better than an hour on a tank. You also need to get there before gate closes at sunset but then can dive anytime

It’s a national park so military can get a free pass at the gate

Couple of divers from Gulf Coast will be at Pickens about 1:30 to 2:00 Sunday afternoon, one of which is Levi Greene who is in the Coast Guard. He likes to dive Pickens. I am not sure how strong the current will be at that time but they are going to try. I may come there also if I can get back in town in time. Hihe tide on Sunday is a little after 9 PM so best time to dive it would be about 8 PM.

I will let you know when we are diving the Destin Area that weekend. I like all the areas you mentioned and really liked the springs until i started diving the Jetties more. Destin Jetties are a hike, but we started seeing a sea turtle consistently and were having great luck out there in general. Panama city jetties offer way more in the visual aspect, but Destin is nothing to ignore. Also, laguna has several octopuses you can see almost every time with a flashlight and the sea horses are always fun... A simple dive is the Destin Bridge, not to many people like it, but when the tide is right, the vis is good and the crabs are always entertaining, plus its an easy going 1+ hour dives. I liked going there to unwind and see the sights on the surface.

Hey Josh, and others...
I work almost all weekends and holidays and don’t really know any dive sites to speak of. Been diving for over 40 yrs and do have a boat...
Cheers,
Leo

We have a 25’ boat, dive year round, have a friend that normally crews the boat and hit many sites off the Panama City/Panama City Beach coast. Normally dive on Thursday or Sunday and like to head out around 7:30 am. E-mail me if you are interested in joining us at times.

Let me know when you start diving in the spring. Too cold for me now! I wear a 3 mil in 82 deg water, a 5 mil in the springs (and still get chilled). Would have to get a dry suit and training if I dove this time of year!
