Fiji diving advice

I just booked a 2 week trip for May, 2013 to Namale Resort in Fiji. Has anyone ever stayed there or dived with them? Before you comment, no I can’t switch. My wife booked this spot as the ultimate romantic getaway for our 10th Anniversary. She also pre-booked for 5 full days of diving, so I can’t complain. Just not sure what the diving is like in that part of Fiji. Namale is located near Suvasuva. Hoping some of you may be familiar with the area. Boolah!!

I did some diving near there from the Nai’a liveaboard. Fiji is the soft coral capital of the world so expect lots of color and small fish but not to many big animal encounters however sharks and mantas like to hang in the channels going into lagoons. The farther you get from Suvasuva or any island the clearer the water will be.

The Fijians are the friendliest people I’ve met anywhere! If you play a musical instrament try to bring it, I think all Fijians either play something or sing and we would sit out at night watching the stars and listening to them.

I hope your flight is on Pacific Air out of LAX, the ticket said "snacks served" so I had dinner before boarding, wrong move, they served dinner on the plane, we then watched a choice of movies, went to sleep, they woke us for breakfast before landing in Fiji just in time to see the sunrise. On the return trip with the dateline and landing before takeoff time the jet lag is a killer!

Bula Rich,

Namale is beautiful and very romantic. The diving close to Savusavu is ok but the really great diving is at Namena. I know that Namale goes there on request so request it for sure!

Thanks Fijilexxy! We will definitely request a visit to Namena for one, two or all of our scheduled 5 days of diving, conditions permitting. I ready something similar when I googled the question so you have confirmed for me.
