Looking for Dive Buddy in the NYC area

Anyone who is interested in diving on a weekly basis or even more frequently, I am looking for a dive buddy in the NYC area for diving in NY/NJ/PA.

I got certified while living down south, so unfortunately I do not have much experience with dive sites in the NE. I have a car (not always the case with NY’ers) and plenty of free time and flexibility. Would at least like to get one day with a couple dives in a week. I am free weekends and after 5 during the week. I have a lot of flexibility with time off so I could take a day here and there for some weekday dives as well. If you have been diving locally up here but are just looking for a reliable buddy, please contact me and let me know!

Welcome to the pool!

The only local diving I do are beach dives, usually in Shark River and this year most will be with my wife working on her skills. 3 different entry points and with the exception of L Street in Belmar all need to be dusk to dawn at slack high tide. It’s a good area to practice but a long ride from NYC for a 40 minute shallow dive, L st. can last longer. Talk to Divers Two in Avon http://www.diverstwo.com/ about their beach dive club or boat dives, they use L st. for thier classes.

In NYC there is a meet-up group called OceanBlue, www.oceanbluedivers.com they are also on FaceBook. It’s an active dive club that meets once each month on Tuesdays. There are movies and speakers but it’s more of a party.

Just over the river is Divers Anonymous http://www.angelfire.com/nj4/divers/ , they do a lot of local beach and boat dives.

SingleDivers.com has local meet and greets but that group is more into dive travel than cold water diving.

Take care

Dutch Springs is awesome. We loved that area when we lived in NJ!! Don’t forget that if you don’t hear from anyone, you can do a search for Divebuddy members in that area and send them a direct message asking if they may want to dive. Just an idea! Take care!
