I just signed on as a new member and wanted to suggest you use Emerald Coast Scuba in Destin FL (www.divedestin.com) if go that direction. I just returned from vacation there and found their operation to be top notch. I am ready to go back already. I live in Central Missouri and have only a few dives under my belt. Hoping to get more serious about it.

Mammoth Lake Scuba in Lake Jackson is a pretty nice site inland. They have a c-130, fighter jets, fire trucks, and many many more things. It is an old archeological dive site where they found what else but a mammoth. after words they filled with a ton of obstacles and things to see. Visibility is generally around 20 feet which is ok for what you’ll see. Great restaurant next door and fully stocked dive shop including nitrox. I definitely recommend it if your going to dive inland don’t miss this place.

I live up in the Dallas/Ft Worth Area and wanted to head out to Terrell, Tx to dive clear springs. I also do not really have anyone I dive with, so if you want, I am willing to head out there pretty much any weekend. I am an active duty Army recruiter in Dallas, so Terrell is just a super short trip away.

Just getting used to this message system. Didn’t see your message til now. Thanks for the tip about the shop in Destin. I used to live in Ft. Walton Beach back in the 1980s. It’d be nice to pay a visit back there. In the 80’s the water was crystal clear where I snorkeled along the beach in Destin. I could easily see sand dollars on the bottom at 30 feet. What are the conditions like now?

I’ll be at Clear Springs on the 12th and 13th but likely have buddies lined up. However, if you want to make it a threesome, come on! Nick Phillips will be diving with me on Friday. We just met on divebuddy.com. He’s a definite. Gary Pavlik is another diver I just met on the CSSP message board. We haven’t confirmed yet our diving together on Saturday.

Conditions were good. 30 feet more or less on vis. We did two dives, 80-90 feet range. The old Destin bridge was cut up and made into a reef on one the dives. Plenty to look at. Nothing big, but the crew was great and the sites pretty cool.

Thanks for the update. Will plan on diving there early next summer.

Hi Jerry,
Are you available to dive Saturday, August 13th at Clear Springs Scuba Park? I’ve been trying to communicate with a guy named Gary Pavlik who expressed an initial interest but haven’t heard back from him yet.
If you can come, it will likely be just the two of us but if Gary does follow up and wants to dive, do you mind three of us diving on Saturday?
I will need to leave around 3pm. Since I’ll be camping overnight on Friday, I’ll already be there and be ready to start as soon as you arrive. The office opens at 8am.
Let me know if this will work for you.
Thanks, Steve Pryor
