I got the DT1000 a few months ago and it’s a great camera. The digital camera part has all of the features of the other expensive brand names, meaning I actually used it for a while before I took it diving. The housing gave me some problems until I applied the o-ring grease, then it worked perfectly. I took a ton of pictures in Cozumel last spring break from 80 - 10 feet. The camera has auto settings that regulate the color balance. If I’m not mistaken if you’re snorkeling, the setting is like 0 - 10 feet, then once you go below that you have to change the setting. Once I figured that out all of the pics came out good. My buddy has the light and wide-angle lens, but I’m not quite ready for the upgrade yet....

All the sites I checked on had the DC1200 as a preorder for this month. I called Sealife and was told they won’t ship them until May. Needed a camera for next wks trip to Cozumel so I went with the DC1000.

I have the DC1000. I love it. It’s loaded with features...and once you figure out how to use it... then it produces good pictures.
If you are planning to do anything other than snorkeling with it, then I recommend investing in the external strobe set as well..

I spoke to Sealife at BTS show in NJ the last weekend in March. The DC1000 will no longer be shipped so whatever is on the shelves is it, and the DC1200 he told me "might" be in at the end of April, beginning of May. I had gone to the show to purchase the DC1200 as I am heading on a trip May 1st and wanted it for that, he said I may get lucky depened upon whom I was to go through becasue the first"run" is already spoken for with advanced orders from shops. He did tell me LP should have the first wave when they release.

A follow up to your pricing thoughts, due to (what I believe they call MAP pricing) the retail on the DC1000 wll not decline as you may think.

I purchased the DC1000 after I lost my Canon 870 with an Ikelite Housing. It was rather a disappointment. A regular point and shoot canon inside of an Ikelite yielded much clearer pictures. A dive buddy of mine owns the Canon G10 with an Ikelite Housing and his pictures blew mine away. If I wasn’t in a pinch, I would of never bought the Sealife.

Well i see some have upgraded. I am looking at purchasing my first underwater camera. I am looking for a used one. I understand the Sealife cameras are the easiest to use. So if anyone wants to sell there old one really quick let me know. kathy.absher [ at ] coair.com leaving for FIJI 4/16/10

My husband has a SeaLife DC800 and likes it. He gets good pictures, it’s easy to operate, and has lots of settings.

I have the DC1000 and I like it a lot. It’s big and bulky with both Strobes but they all are. I find myself shooting more video than pics when I’m reef diving and other shallower stuff. That’s a nice benefit of the camera.
