Lucky you. I just returned from 8 days in Maui a couple months ago. Not sure where you are staying on the Island. The biggest dive shops that I could find were Scuba Shack in Kihei, and Lahaina Divers in Lahaina. Since I was staying in Kaanapali, Lahaina is only a 5 minute drive in the morning. I was in Maui with the family, so I only scheduled two days of diving. I did a shore dive to keep the cost down at Black Rock (at the Sheraton in Kaanapali), which was okay but not great. I read on-line that there are better shore dive spots but didn’t try them. I made a mistake when asking for local advice for my boat dive. I used Lahaina Divers and can’t say enough good things about them. We did two dives at Molokini Crater. The conditions were amazing. No current at all and 100’ + vis. Unfortunately, we were all saying "where’s all the fish?" Several people on that dive said that they did the better dive the day before to the island of Lanai and a second dive at Turtle Town. They said there was 10 times the amount of sea life. Plus at Lanai you have the Cathedrals (caverns) to dive into that look amazing (watch the video at Scuba Shack’s website). My dive buddy said he dove with at least 50 turtles at turtle town. That’s the dive trip I will choose next time. Hope this helps. Wish I could go ;-)
