That’s just the tip of the iceberg of bad behavior out there. It happens all the time. I’ve had scores flake on me. I’ve gone on trips where I traveled four hours each way and paid for hotels and had my crappy buddy quit on me right at the edge of the water. For most people diving is a really low priority. Unless they have a good reason like they are sick or an illness in the family I don’t initiate contact with someone like that anymore and seek a replacement. One thing I have learned is I never attempt to persuade anyone to dive at all. I tell them all the bad things about diving and they should quit and sell their equipment. Unless they are enthusiastic I won’t dive with them. When you persuade an unenthusiastic person to dive you end up with someone who quits like that.
