From LatitudeAdjustment: Most shore diving in NJ is in inlets, Shark River being the best with 4 entry points but must be done at slack high tide and your dive window is short, 45-60 minutes before the tide changes and the current too much to handle and that’s a long ride for both of you for one dive.

Beach dives are harder on you and equipment with the surf putting sand in everything however the dive window is longer and I’m curious to see some of the beach wrecks now that Sandy has moved tons of sand off of them.

I have a beach cart and my wife for shore support :)

If you’re into a road trip let me know what date and we’ll see what the tides are good for.

The long ride thing goes for boat dives too. If I take a trip out of Brielle it’s not to bad since I’m in the far north east of Philly I can get there in about 1 1/2 hours. Leaving about 6:00 am if we do two in-shore dives I can be home by 2:00 pm.

I dove with a guy out of Cape May and we dived The City of Athens and another wreck out about 20 miles. That made for a long day for two tanks.

Just think, I can leave Philadelphia at 6:00 am and be diving in the Bahamas by noon!

You have to have some type of regressive gene to want to dive the Jersey shore. But I"m up for it.

I would have to do a week end day if we decide to do it. IF you don’t mind dealing

with an in-experienced shore diver.

Thanks for the offer Latitude.
