I completely agree with btw2459. That’s the same thing I advise my students to do before class begins if they feel they’ll have an issue with this skill in the water. You want to get to the point where you can easily breath deep breaths without pinching your nose and nothing covering your eyes. I would go one step further and add that you breath IN through your mouth (through the snorkel)...and OUT through your nose (bubbles going into the water). Once you can do that without a problem, and while swimming around in the pool, you’ll have more confidence when it comes to removing your mask underwater and breathing off the reg. And just keep telling yourself that you’re in the shallow end of the pool and all you need to do is stand up to avoid drowning.
