If you are on the Dutch side, near Phillipsburg, check out Scuba Fun Dive Center, web site - http://scubafundivecenter.com/. Their site claims they are the only 5 star instructor development dive resort on the island, I never checked it personally. The reviews I saw on them on tripadvisor.com were great, and since they were within walking distance of where I was staying, I did two morning dives with them every day for 5 days. They were the best that I have been diving with, but I have only been diving with two other charters, one of which I will probably never dive with again. I asked all kinds of questions before I booked since I was going without my buddy. Antoine and Elaine (possibly the owners?) were very patient and helpful in answering all my questions. The crew (Dave, Tony, Fab, and Frank) was great. I bought one of their shop t-shirts and had all of them sign the back as a souvenir. The boat we usually took could carry 24, but we usually had 14 or less, and one day there were only 5. But the groups were always less than 6 per dive leader. After I got home, Antoine sent me an email apologizing for not being in the shop to say goodbye when I left my last day.
