I am a dock builder with a new customer that owns a dive shop. My customer recently bought property on a lake in Central Texas with the intention of opening another dive shop. We have run into a bit of an issue with the Corps of Engineers. Several years back, the Corps stopped issuing permits for private docks. If we approach the corps with plans for a "Safety Platform" for "Educational Purposes" will we have a leg to stand on? Has anyone out there had a similar experience? Am I heading in the right direction? Any help or advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated. I hope to hear from someone soon.

I suppose you could also try to gain approval based on some kind of research that you agree to perform on the lake (ie: underwater plant life, species of animals/fish in the water, counts of certain species). You could also say you’ll organize an annual underwater lake clean-up. And all of this requires a "safety platform" to dive from :)
