Water Cay - Bahamas

Loading...

This was actually two dives! The bottom is algae covered eroded limestone and sand, you can see the old shorelines. The holes in the bottom are a nursery, juvenile triggers and just about everything else but the real reason for this dive is the swim thru’s to the lake in the center of the Cay. A lot of surge around the Cay from the breakers rolling overhead and it’s really bad in the swim thrus! The climb out from the lake isn’t pretty (wear gloves) and this limestone is sharper than the rocks at Shark River! We explore the Cay and find the remains of a small Cuban fishing skiff and then back into the gear for the swim back to the boat.

There is a plane wreck just off the Cay but I never went looking for it.

This site is visited by the Nekton boats on the Cay Sal Bank trips.
