Begun in 1818 as the USS Alabama construction was halted and not finished until 1863 when she was launched as the USS New Hampshire. Served as a hopital ship and supply ship under different name. On July 22, 1922 while under tow she caught on fire and sank off Graves Island. The first underwater site listed with the National Historic Site. Remaining timbers contain copper spikes made by Paul Revere.
