This old DC3 40- passenger Convair airliner was sunk deliberately in 1977 as a prop for Mexican disaster movie, The hull was substantially intact until hurricane Roxanne passed by in October 1995; she is now well broken up and scattered over the sea bed, resting about 210ft/ 65m from the pier. The remains of the aircraft are now home to a large assortment of grunts and snapper. On the shore side of the wreck the sea bed rises rapidly to 17ft/ 5m And the numerous small coral heads have large numbers of Christmas tree worms and the split-crown featherduster on them. Hermit crabs, numerous shrimps and several species of blenny all compete for space among the sea fans and plumes which are common feature of all Caribbean reefs.
