Virgina reef, Biscayne National Park - Homestead FL

Loading...

The only dive boat that goes here leaves from Biscayne National Park

Large resident Southern Sting ray, easy dive, lot’s of fish & good coral that I think is in better shape than the Keys, follow a figure 8 pattern around reef back through sand channel to mooring. Look along the I-beam for cleaners.

From my log: Excellent dive, Boat (cat) was Boca Chita, DM was Nestor Morales. (comments about my daughter and 3rd buddy deleted)Could hear shrimp but never saw any. Blue runners hanging high over reef, saw Blue parrotfish with sucker attached, tried to photograph school of barracuda, large Loggerhead turtle swam through spooking them and then flushed out a huge Southern ray, didn’t get a picture of any of them! These reefs at the south end of the park don’t have the pronounced spur and groove (the map shows them in the north end of the park) of the FL keys and all of the Biscayne reefs seemed to have more juveniles than Key Largo.
