São Miguel offers some unique dives such as the beautiful islet of Vila Franca do Campo; an ancient volcanic crater just 2 miles offshore. There is a lagoon inside which you can enter as part of the crater wall has collapsed due to marine erosion and tectonic movement. The dive is 20m deep with caves and the crater is also a breeding area for the Cory Shearwater.
