The name Blue Chute comes for a sand channel that starts right next to the dive mooring and extends down to about 70’ where there’s an overturned barge. The story goes that the barge was to be scuttled as a dive site before the government got involved and prohibited the sinking of the barge. As it was being towed out to sea it mysteriously broke loose and sunk at almost exactly where it had originally been planned. Take that bureaucrats!
