Not likely you were at the tunnels that ran to the dam, as these are near the original river bottom, currently as of 12/2017, around 400’ down.

I went scuba diving here on 7/9/2016. Average viz: 5-10ft/2-3m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C.
Need a boat for good dives

Went here in January for Open Water checkouts due to an unwillingness of students to chop holes through 18" of ice in Iowa. Scuba Views dive center was very accommodating to us for our equipment needs, and offered some good advice on the lake’s dive sites. On this trip, we focused on a sheltered, shallow area just north of Boulder Beach as a training site so we didn’t see anything spectacular, but we accomplished what we needed to.
