I went scuba diving here on 9/28/2013. Average viz: 71-80ft/22-24m. Water temp: 71-75°F/22-24°C.
After a shower and surface interval with our wives at the picnic area we go to the other side of island. There is a glass bottom boat here but this is not like in Florida or the Caribbean, no other dive boats. We enter and swim around rock outcroppings, like a tunnel with no roof over toward the sea lion pen, this is a training area for these working military sea lions and the bottom is scattered with targets, two boats bows, steel boxes, concrete pipe, a pot and a torso from a statue of a man with his arms crossed. These two well fed sea lions are huge by California or Galapagos standards. Schools of small fish, a large jack off in the distance. Spiro saw a nudi but I missed it :( We shower back at the island, take the obligatory group photo and head back to the hotel, there is a hose on the dock for rinsing gear.
