Palancar Caves is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located at Av 15 No 1280, Cozumel, Quintana Roo 77600, Mexico. This dive site has an average rating of 4.57 out of 5 from 35 scuba divers. The average visibility is 101-110ft/31-34m. This dive site provides bathrooms and airfills.

Palancar is a massive formation of coral reefs that during thousands of years has shaped in to lots of tunnels and crevasses, hanging from a wall that reaches beyond 1000 ft deep.

It’s spectacular entrances from the shallow to the wall are famous and when you are swimming into them you will know why.

This dive has almost always current, which can variate from 2, 3 knots average to some times 5. Usually is a very relaxed comfortable dive with lots of color and visibility usually exceeds 100 ft, water temperature is always in the mid 80º.

Next time you are planing a trip to warm Caribbean waters think Cozumel Mexico and do not miss Palancar caves, gardens or horseshoe, I am sure you will enjoy it very much.

Started this dive around 4:45pm. Perfect time to dive because cruise ships depart at 5, so tourism is very low at this time. Beautiful dive with lots of life! Saw a hairy Toad fish as well.

I went scuba diving here on 7/3/2012. Average viz: Over 150ft/46m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C.

Holy Clear Water Batman!!! We had over 150ft of visibility and we were the first ones to the site. What a fun dive. Tons of marine life of every description. Buoancy control is key as it can get a little tight in some spots and you don’t want to kick the reef. Really fun. My reg started breathing a little wet on me, but other than that, just another day in paradise.

I am ready to move to Cozumel. Not kidding.
