I`m an avid scuba and freediver living in Los Angeles. If you need a buddy, drop me a line and let`s start a conversation. I love night diving and I have excellent navigation skills in low vis conditions. Surf entries and cold water are the norm for me. I don’t necessarily mind going out with people who are newer to the sport but I hate babysitting (read: being expected to teach or coach people through activities they should already know like setting up their gear or making a surf entry). A good buddy is one who knows how to handle the surf, who knows good methods of staging at their car or dive station, who can navigate (both with a compass and via natural cues), and who understands that California/coldwater diving is serious business. It amazes me how many people go into the Pacific without a snorkel or compass, or who think that warm water gloves or snorkeling fins pass for full ocean gear.

I still do tables in addition to my computers and keep a logbook that goes all the way back to my first certification dives in 1987. My log keeps me honest. My preferred tank is a HP steel 100 and Long Point/OML is my home spot, though I dive Hawaii each year when I visit the family.

I do enjoy meeting and diving with new people, provided that a comfort level exists. If you happen to be in the LA area and any of this sounds interesting, drop me an e-mail at scvdiver@aol.com and let’s start a conversation. If you happened to vote for Proposition 8 in California in 2008, then move on and go about your business. I prefer to dive only with those buddies who support civil rights and who aren’t trying to dissolve my family or hurt those I care about.
