SSI Dive Control Specialist Instructor, I’ve been diving since April 1980. I was first certified NASDS. Later, NASDS merged with SSI. I resisted, for many years, suggestions that I should teach. Finally in 2006, I succumbed and took the SSI instructor program. I’ve made many challenging dives, but must admit that I prefer nice, laid back and relaxing diving. The diving here in Washington and British Columbia is some of the best in the world, but I really like the Caribbean. Partly because of the friendly and laid-back people I meet there. The warm water and sun doesn’t hurt, either.
