Sorry to hear about your problems with El Mar in Mesa. Got my OW certification with them and I’m great friends with their owner. Went to DEMA with her! The shop’s stayed in business for 50 years, ran by her father and now Tonia. Their prices may be higher but I love the shop and the customer service. Personal preferences, I suppose...

San Carlos does have some great diving and dive boats. The Piesquita (from El Mar) is a great well maintained operation (in San Carlos) and is very competitive with the other ops in San Carlos,)(I wish I could give them the same marks for their Mesa Shop but they are significantly over priced and have had issues that required their change from PADI to SSI) Ocean Spirit (which is an affiliate of one of the Tucson dive shops) is also a great boat to dive from and then there is Gary’s dive shops in San Carlos who has a fleet of boats which offer a choice of trips in that area on any given day and great fish tacos. Gary’s boats aren’t as well maintained but will get to out and back safely.

The Piesquita from El Mar Diving in San Carlos. Great dive boat! And Captain Sammy is amazing and hilarious!
