First dive for Jana and myself not on a chartered boat or at a dive resort. The actual spring wasn’t super exciting but the shallower areas leading to the river were cool. The bones of the Madison were neat to swim around. Did meet some very helpful people at Dive Outpost close by who helped us out with gear. Some cool stratification in the water column to swim around and saw a bunch of turtles and mullet.

Great flow coming out of the cavern, enjoyed the "lava flow" from the sand.

Saw many turtles, and the remains of the sunken ship.

Cool place, not a great as I expected, more like a 65 foot hole full of water. Wasn’t able to see the steamboat wreck. Good thing is the price to get in.

Why couldn’t you see the Madison?

Monday Oct. 19, 2015. Accompanied my dive buddy & Instructor, Bill Foote, with his students at Troy.
DiveBuddy.com buddy, Roger Marquis flew in from Maine to continue his Advance Open Water training, and Debra Buxton, in from the UK, was advancing her Open Water certification as well.

For those interested in seeing what I shot, the Troy w Bill, Roger & Debra album will also show a few calculating, poorly trained, and inconsiderate divers, who appear to be breaking the law, defacing a historic landmark and stealing the nails from the Madison bones on the bottom of the spring run.

These same divers caused an avalanche in the deeper regions before Bill and I could get some photos, thereby totally destroying the visibility for our class for several hours as well. The good news is, that we turned part of the dive into "limited Visibility" training. :-)

Beautiful crystal clear waters, abounding with turtles, mullet, and catfish. What a lovely dive Micheal and I had. Nobody else was there! Magnificent. :-) The tannins over the Madison just added to the delights of the day.

Great spot to practice open water skills or refresh after a long pause from diving.
