 Looking for Dive Op/Buddy Florida West Coast

I want to do some diving on the west coast of Florida (thinking Tampa and south). I live in Orlando but would go stay for the weekend. Does anyone have recommendations on a good dive operation or some must do dive sites over there? Or even better if there is someone who has been there and would like to buddy up... that would be GREAT! Thanks

The only place where I know people have had personal experience with near Tampa is Narcosis Scuba (http://www.narcosisscuba.com/) in Tarpon Springs. I’ve never heard any negative comments about Narcosis at all although I have never personally used them myself.
If you decide to hit the panhandle, I can be more help in that area.

I live in Cape Coral/Ft. Myers area and do all of my west coast dives in Venice. You can do shore dives to the near shore reefs or i charter a boat - Aristokat (spelling) and dive the "boneyard" two miles or so offshore. We collect the large Meg shark teeth, mastadon teeth, petrified horse teeth, etc. There are quite a few of us that dive there - fossilbabe, Aerose, SmileJ, etc. There is also a dive club on this site out of the Tampa area that may know some spots a little farther north in Tampa.
