I don’t get to dive a lot living in New Mexico and the last time I got to dive was 5 years ago in Jamaica. My wife doesn’t dive so I am taking a solo trip but am looking for an Open Water dive buddy (that is my certification) to do 3 days of diving over the Memorial Day holiday weekend out of Ambergris Caye at San Pedro. I would definitely like to get to the Blue Hole for one of the days-have not been to Belize for diving before.

We are going back in Oct... I believe... went in march this year... it was awesome. SeaStar Belize was great shop, and for the regular spots.. like Hol Chan, Blue Heaven is the shop to visit.... If you go to the SeaStar.. ask to do some swim troughs! very cool

Thanks a ton. Actually, the place I am staying is right next door to SeaStar. What dive sites did you do? Did you do the Blue Hole? Did you dive or just snorkel at Hol Chan-do you know which is better because my understanding is that Hol Chan is only about 25 ft. down. What was their standard 2 tank 1/2 day local dive price including tax? I ask because they have e-mailed me some preliminary pricing. Should I book in advance or wait until I arrive? I arrive at 3 pm the day before my first dive but it is Memorial Day weekend.

With sea star.... we stayed to the north.... there were not a whole lot of divers with us, so we were able to go to a place called lovers tunnel i believe. Rick... was our dive guide. Awesome guy. The the owners brother has a restaurant on the island as well that served some awesome breakfast.

We stay on the south end of the island so for the first 2 days with Blue Heaven, we went to tackle box, and stayed around that area. saw lots of nurse shark, eel, some barracuda, and even a few black tips.... For HolChan... its shallow, but I did it at night.... very cool, but lots of people were there. At night we saw a lot of eagle ray... They like the bubbles, and light.

When we were diving with SeaStar... We saw a HUGE Mantaray.... they said it had been hanging around and they had seen it before...

We didnt book in advance just so we could golf cart it to different locations instead of making it a longer boat ride. You might ask them about a night dive at Holchan your first night there too.

Looks great-thanks. What was their rate for a 1/2 day, 2 tank local dive?
