Blue Grotto Dive Resort is located Williston, FL 32696. They offer trailer hookups, camping and cabins at very affordable rates. The spring is classified as Open Water, however much of it is under overhead. Check out the video on divebluegrotto.com

May be interested, can you give a rough idea of plans? Weather looks good to camp, looks like blue grotto has made a lot of improvements since I’ve last been there.

Curtis and Capnd, if you’d like to join my group, I’ll need to know ahead of time. We will all meet there at approximately 10:00 p.m. The cost to dive at Blue Grotto, day or night, is $40.00 plus .07 sales tax.

If you camp/lodge there and dive during the day, it’s the same price, however, if you wanted to dive at night as well, I think they only charge an additional $20. plus tax.

All gear and gas needs to be brought with you after 5:30 p.m., as the refill station and rental gear will close down at that time.

They have nice cabanas to setup in, plenty of room down by the water to leave gear between dives, and full shower facilities and a wash stations.

The Blue Grotto of "today" is totally different from that which we knew before 2011. Today’s facility is impeccably beautiful and accommodating. Plus, Kurt Huber and his staff are very friendly and helpful.

Tanks & gas not an issue, have plenty, as well as lights (I’m cave trained).......just wondering about if the diving will be available all evening til after midnight, or just a midnight dive. One of my friends did some training there today, heard it’s really been improved.

If I go, I’d probably be able to arrive by 4-8, depending on work. Would like to get in more than one dive, unless it a single long one (2 hrs or so).

I’m planning on getting there around 10ish, and we will do several dives as well. Yes, we can be there after midnight as there will be other groups there doing New Years dives too. I’ll speak to Kurt tomorrow and verify the exact details of when we would be expected to leave etc.

Guess I was more interested in it this will be a social event, maybe with a campfire, or simply a dive.

They have all kinds of fire pits around, and BBQ grills too. My buddies and I aren’t planning any king of PotLuck or anything, as we are just going to dive and hang together for the New Year.

If you want a formal social event, Cave Divers Forum is hosting one at Ginnie Springs. Regular price to enter, and they will have a Galaxy dive at midnight. You should call them for details.

Informal OK, fire would be nice. Ginnie would be an alternate, but this sounds like fun too, and have done a few Galaxy dives. Besides, Have no cave friends going there, and to me cave partners are developed, not "blind dates". ;-) Suspect cylumes might be a no-no at Blue Grotto, they’re non-toxic, but not enough flow to disperse them.....correct me if guessing wrong.

I should know something Monday, work is planning on sending me to Sarasota for three months(goodbye winter I hope) and if that happens I will leave Monday or Tuesday morning . that way they foot the bill and I will time it to stop at blue gratto on the way . If they don’t I may still go since I am on vacation this week . I will let you know as soon as I know . by the way cool profile pic !

No flow is correct. Thx. Profile pic taken by my buddy using my camera for me. That’s why I like to dive with other photographers. They manage to get some excellent shots!

Yes Curtis,I collect for my group. I’ll either be paying Kurt the following morning for the group, or Susan might dive with us too, which means she’d be working the office as well as the fill station.

Curtis, is you are driving 2 hr. 17 mins. from Rockledge, to Williston, and plan on being there before the office closes at 5, you might just want to call ahead and reserve yourself a cabin to stay the night in, rather than drive all the way home on New Year’s when drunk drivers are on the road.

Cabins are around $50. a night. Great price and cozy little rooms too. Plus, if you’re there at 5, you’ll be hanging out for 5 hrs. waiting for us to arrive!!! And fyi, nobody dives one single dive, in a spring, for 2 hrs., unless they are doing a drift dive, or take plenty of bottles down with them, and frankly, you’d be bored to death doing this inside the cavern zone of BG.

Guess I’m a nobody, 120-150 minutes in a spring basin doesn’t seem unusual at all to me, and I have done 240 minutes just for fun. Doubles & stages are cool toys.

Thanks for the in of, looking forward to tomorrow night.
