Sorry, but I disagree. For most of the students dealing with all these new equipment as it is is very often challenging. Adding yet another gadget would in my opinion complicate it.
That’s why I believe we have confined water dives first (often starting in the shallow water where you can simply stand up and explain issue quickly) than repeat same thing in deep water and than in open water.
But hey it might work fore some... I personally enjoy diving "mute" and than share excitement on the boat with my buddy or group I dove with.
