From Diving4Fun:

Thanks for the great information everyone. I have done some additional digging and found prices all over the place. A semi local LDS has a nice set-up, maybe more then what I need now but sounds decent. Stainless backplate, 80 lb. bladder, crotch strap, etc.

Just trying to cross all my "T’s"

I want to emphasize the importance of doing as much research as possible BEFORE you purchase your first BP/W configuration.

80 lbs lift capacity ??? You need to know WHY you need that much lift. What are you carrying that you need that much lift capacity?

I hope that encourages you to do more research and not allow costs to dictate your choices for you.

One thing is for certain once you cross over (transition to BP/W) you’re going to find that you’re going to need and want more gear and training and that means more money...a lot more money.

So please do your homework first then you’ll make better decisions from here on out.

You do know that transitioning from a BCD to a BP/W rig is considered going over to the "Dark Side"?
