this is what happened to me jan 2007, I went to get on the disney ship, even tho the land and sea requirements have been extended for u.s. entry , I still had to have my passport to board the ship because that is now Britian`s policy , good I had mine. I had driven from dallas to coco beach and would have been screaming for someones blood. so for some cruises(if not all now)without a passport, the U.S. may be a big roach motel for ya ....you can check but you can`t check out
