Every time I`ve been to New Ireland Island, I`ve been on a liveaboard. Lissunung (sp?) Island is near Kavieng and is, reportedly, quite nice. Make sure you go to Albatross Channel and Planet Ocean. Lots of current in those channels, but if you go on the incoming tide it is INCREDIBLE! Very nice diving there.
