Mona Island, Various sites - Puerto Rico

Loading...
Mona Island, Various sites is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Isla De Mona 00680, Puerto Rico. This dive site has an average rating of 5.00 out of 5 from 3 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 71-80ft/22-24m. The average visibility is 51-60ft/16-18m.

Dive Sites I dove at:

Acropolis

Cresto Profundo

Cul-De-Sac

The only way to access the sites around Mona Island is by a liveaboard. Since the area has not had a lot of divers it has amazing coral and fish!! The wall drift dive on Little Mona Island is absolutely amazing!! So I’ve been told! I fell on board during a storm while crossing the blue water coming from Turks & Caicos Islands and hurt my hand so I wasn’t able to do all of the dives made while there. We went over the Christmas holidays and the water is pretty rough during the winter months.

Scubanut08:

That is typical when they don’t have a clue of what they are talking about or just want you to use them only...I also heard from another group that went on a liveboard to Mona. Their boat left from the port of Mayaguez PR and after getting doci=king back from Mona one of the divers wanted to to stay in the area and do more diving. The boat crew told him there was no diving in Mayaguez or anywhere near. Totaly false. There is Dive Shop minutes from the Mayaguez port (The Dive Shop-PR owned by a friend of mine) with pleanty of diving sites to go...If you have any questons about diving in PR please let me know. If can’t answer your question sure I might know someone that can..

@ginovega. Sorry I was told wrong about the live-a-board only. Thanks for clearing it up! Too bad about the lion fish!!! There were none there Christmas 2008.

That information is not correct. Liveboards are not the only way to reach or dive in La Mona. I dove there in 1988 ( I am from PR) and we camped on the island. I know a dive shop in PR that takes divers there frequently. I have spoken w them and waiting for them to provide me the information. Once I get tit I will post it here.

Try Capitan Elick from Joyuda, and there is also a dive shop just in front of the Parador also on the docks that does same day return trips, usually 2 dives.
