Old Marineland Swim Platform is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. This dive site has an average rating of 3.00 out of 5 from 1 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 71-80ft/22-24m. The average visibility is 11-15ft/3-5m.

This is an old swim platform that has was sunk and often covered by fishing nets. The nets should no longer be a problem now that OML is a Marine Protected Area. Local divers have attached a red buyoy. The structure is basically a metal frame with two large metal floats (obviously flooded). The frame is covered in various colors of strawberry anemone and often many rare nudubranch’s can be found here. The frame is also home to several sheep crab who even have strawberry anemone groing on their bodies. Vis is typically poor because the bottom is very soft sand which can silt out the viz quickly. Most will approach by boat, or surface swim and return to Old Marineland 120 Reef underwater. It’s approximately a 200 yard surface swim from the cobble cove, and 100 yards back to the 120 reef. This site is considered an advanced dive because of the possiblity of dangerous open ocean current and boat traffic. The platform is currently at a depth of 72 feet, but it does move from time to time when snagged by fishing nets or a large storm. Still an interesting dive and great oportunity for macro photography.
