The Scuba Ranch is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located at 8131 County Road 346, Terrell, TX 75160. This dive site has an average rating of 3.48 out of 5 from 110 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 51-60ft/16-18m. The average visibility is 11-15ft/3-5m. This dive site provides bathrooms and airfills. Training platforms are available.

Our Park officially opened June 15, 2000 and we have come a long way since that time. We offer a 22 acre spring-fed lake that has some of the most beautiful and natural habitat ever seen in a fresh water Texas lake. The maximum depth is approximately 63 feet and water temperature and visibility updates can be found by clicking on the message board link on the left.

We currently have a state of the art air compressor and air fills are $8.00 (we do not have Nitrox). Please see the detailed layout of our lake by clicking on the MAP link on the left. We try to update the Map as changes are made but things happen pretty fast around the Park!! We currently have a small but growing inventory of rental equipment so please call first to make sure we have what you need. Please click on the "Rental Gear" on the left to view our gear with prices. To reserve gear, you will need to call us at 972-524-6820.

EVERYONE entering the Park will be required to sign a WAIVER and you should bring your C-Card (if applicable). Dive Shops and Private Instructors will be required to show proof of liability insurance and Kaufman Recreational Management, Inc. and Clear Springs Scuba Park LLC should be listed as additional insured’s. I should also point out that being a spring-fed lake there is a thermocline just below 20’ so bring a full wet suit, hood and gloves. If you do not have a full suit, that’s not a problem. You can either stay above 20’ where it is a balmy 80 degrees in the summer or rent one of our newly stocked wetsuits or a drysuit for the really cold natured diver.

We continue to strive upon improvements and want Clear Springs to be the best and that will only happen with your help and we welcome constructive criticism and suggestions. Improvements made include an onsite deli-"Diver’s Deli." Our menu is limited but we have sandwiches, chips, snacks, drinks, bagged ice, etc.. We will continue to refine the menu as we go. We have constructed pavilions for shade and will continue to add more. We currently have 9 underwater platforms at approximately 20 feet, 6 entry docks. And of course, there is Sisco, the 50 foot shark, a Cabin Cruiser, and a few other "surprises". We have the restroom with hot showers located next to the air fill station.

maczdad - 7/31/2023 4:52 PM I dove here 25/26 June 2023. vis was about 2 feet. Great place for wreck diving certs. I will be retuning the weekend of the 5th of Aug. I have been told vis is at about 25 ft.

Bmax - 10/30/2022 6:06 PM I went scuba diving here on 10/30/2022. Average viz: Under 5ft/2m. Water temp: 66-70°F/19-21°C. Vis was only 4 feet. Water temp was 66 degrees with no thermocline.

micahclifford - 9/12/2022 8:59 PM Did some dive training here on 9-11-22. Pros: Great place to get set up and wrecks are clearly marked with colored buoys. Water is warm 80F Cons: Visibility was less than 5 feet. Made for a very challenging and less than ideal diving experience. I don’t see the water visibility getting better with time.

Soly47 - 6/01/2022 11:56 AM I went scuba diving here on 5/22/2022. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 71-75°F/22-24°C. Drove here while on vacation in Texas. Pretty busy place, but even with over 100 people there we didn’t see another individual underwater. Lots of schools have private docks, but the public ones are scattered around that still let you get in the water pretty easily. Deeper and better vis than the Athens park during my time there. Weather was overcast and chilly when out of the water but great temps underwater. The attractions underwater are marked by buoy and pretty easy to find.

txdamselfish - 5/17/2022 3:29 PM Rating Added: 4 The vis is not good, but the customer service, use of public docks (avoid crowded docks with classes) and the safe environment are priceless amenities when working on your buoyancy, trim, navigation and other skills. Visibility is not needed for these types of exercises that will make me a better diver. The great service and safety make it worth every star!

Its kinda hard to “avoid the crowds” when the place is only open few days a week and I’m not too interested in the trip if it’s crowds AND low vis. BillParker - 8/11/2020 1:01 PM True viz updates don’t matter much for this location. It’s virtually always divable. When I was a regular here I’d arrive just before they opened with full tanks and jump in the water ASAP. Saturday activites leave it stirred up some on Sundays even if you arrive early so Saturdays are better. The park was empty on Fridays so it was a better experience if you can schedule it. Friday night dives are cool. Viz is better in places away from what attracts classes. Classes tend to congregate around platforms and wrecks. I’d adjust where I get in based on where people are currently at. If the East side was crowded I’d go to the West side. If the West side was crowded I’d go to the East side, etc. The early bird gets the worm as they say. tenball - 8/12/2020 7:07 PM I was there a couple of weeks ago and I thought the vis was great for a lake.Their were quite a few folks already out there and I have no idea if there was a thermocline.NICE

We took our 10 year old there to to finish his open water dives and the dive platforms there were really nice and really cool. Not to mention all the extra fun finds in the water. I highly suggest a light for the deep spots as it can get dark at depth but the water temp in the summer is perfect! Only wish we has a spot like this closer to town!!!

Saw LOTS of fish and a small turtle. Almost got bit by Sisco (whew). The lines and buoys were very helpful to find everything as the vis was so bad. I’d always heard how great the vis was here so I’m gonna chalk it up to a “one-of” event due to the COVID crowds.
