Depth: 5-60 foot
Entry: Boat or Shore
Bottom Composition: Sand with Hard Coral Dog Leg
Description: Shore entry is off family beach, enter water at the westernmost part of the beach; you’ll know you’re in the right area because you run out of Road. Head south over the shallows; even at low tide you can Surface swim and not walk the reef, until you hit the first drop off. Deaths in this silty sand area range from 10 to 30 ft, continue South for about 70 to 80 yards, and you’ll run into the shore facing side of Dog Leg Reef. Head Southeast and you will go around the tip of the reef; you’ll know you’re going in the right direction when you see a mooring block and old steel wrecking ball like item. Go around the bend and you’re on the harbor itself; water clears up, and the reef goes for several hundred yards. Lots to see, good coral, and good wildlife.

Note: Break-ins use to be a common occurrence at Family Beach, but Harbot Police now patrol the site regularly. Even with that fact, ensure your vehicle is locked and no valuables are visible in your vehicle. Also, a Harbor permit is required for this site. It can be picked up for $10 at the Harbor Office (Only Monday-Friday).
