Lake Maratanza is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located at Sams Point Preserve, Cragsmoor, NY 12420. This dive site has an average rating of 3.00 out of 5 from 1 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 11-15ft/3-5m. The average visibility is 26-30ft/8-9m.

It’s normally a restricted lake but we were given special permission to dive here from the park preserve. It’s shallow but supper interesting to see. It’s a mountain top lake that is partially natural and partially man made as a reservoir for the neighboring village. It’s no longer used as a water source though.

It’s shallow but nice rock formations and interesting marine life. The high alkalinity of the lake doesn’t allow for fish, but there’s a lot of other creatures.
