I personally like this spot. Two buddies and I have been hitting this once a week for a few weeks now after work. We’ve found part of an old foundation, the road of course, and something else that I am not giving away just yet until we can check it out better, that is a bit more technical. Fish life is excellent. It does get a bit dark down around 20 feet, but if you want crystal clear water, then go to the quarries or wait for a trip to the tropics. But, if you don’t mind, and even LIKE dark water, as I do, then check it out. I’ve been in MUCH worse than this, so this isn’t too bad. But then, I like an adventure and a challenge. If it’s dark or cold, or better....both, then it keeps others away and I get to see what’s there, potentially first. :-)

Been here a few times in the last 2 weeks. We have found the old road (not hard to find), and on 6/3/2014 my dive buddies found a foundation. Going back again to dig around it and see what else is there. Aside from that, I shot a lot of video of fish. The fish life is pretty good here, which is what I like personally. If you are looking for wrecks, you should probably just head to the ’pay to play’ quarries or the ocean. But for a local FREE dive spot that you will have all to yourselves (unless I am there), this is a decent mid week dive. I don’t mind dark water though, so... meh.

I dove here on August 5th, and it will likely be a site I won’t return to. Diving at Codorus State Park is a relatively new thing, and due to the high volume of boat traffic on the lake, the diving is restricted to one cove, which is quite shallow. On this particular ocassion, the seaweed was extremely thick and the visibility quite low due to a very silty bottom and recent rain storms. Aside from that, there is simply nothing to see in this cove, aside from an old hardball road left behind when the town of Marburg was flood in the 60s to create this lake. I did speak with the park’s assistant manager before leaving about the idea of scuttling some boats and other structures to provide something for divers to explore, and he seemed open to the idea. Perhaps in the future this could be a decent dive site. It is free, at least.
