Been here twice now, shore entry from Joe’s Marina, near Mico, Texas. Dive World West (San Antonio) has permission from Joe’s to do dive training, so there’s some of the usual - boat, car, van and training platform. Water is way up: I’m told the lake hasn’t been this full in years. Viz has been pretty good for a lake, 20-30’. Water in the 80s at the surface, strong 70’s down to 45’, and mid 60s at 60’. Lots of fish - seen catfish, sunfish, bluegills, carp, and bass. There’s a gradual slope from the beach to 25’ deep 300’ from shore, then a ledge with a drop down to 60’. The dive area is more or less bounded at the outer limits by a set of rail tracks, used for mine cars when they build the dam; that’s as far out as I’ve gone. No gear for rent or air refills at Joe’s, but its cheap: $4 a person and $3 to park.

If there’s water in the lake, it’s a pretty decent dive...
