Diving the Avalon
The years of immersion have reduced the hull of the Avalon to a very low profile with only a few small sections of the wreck remaining upright and intact. As the wreck lies near a series of ridges that make up a rocky reef, finding the wreck using a fathometer can be difficult without exacting coordinates.

Tromptista - 5/21/2012 12:59 PM I went scuba diving here on 5/20/2012. Average viz: 21-25ft/6-8m. Water temp: 50-55°F/10-13°C. Some decent current running northeast at surface and depth. We were anchored right on top of a crane that was wrecked during the recovery efforts on the avalon and we went with the current through the stern portion of wreck. A few hunters got some sandbass and cabazon which provided us with delicious fresh fish BBQ on surface after the dive. Get out and dive with us. NBTT Divers (http://www.nbttdiveclub.com)
