Soft black sand down the entrance. To the left there are deep volcanic fishers along with pockets of coralheads teaming with life. To the right a long sandbar leading to shear clifs that go to about 20 feet deep. The middle has a boat moaring that a 40 or so foot catamaran takes out tourists for winter whale wach tours. Gated community inside the Mauna Lani hotel area.

HawaiianSnowman - 5/16/2013 6:02 PM I love this beach and live 15 minutes away. I snorkel here often and like the variety with the black pebbles on the beach, white sand bottom with interspersed coral and lots of sealife. It is usually not crowded.

HawaiianSnowman - 5/16/2013 6:01 PM Rating Added: 4 Nice beach, not crowded with a bottom of coral and white sands. Lots of sealife with a max depth of about 45 feet or so. I like to swim here for exercise because I can see the bottom all the way across the bay.
