Came here for my Freediving OW certification. Extremely pleasant dive. You will need a hood if you plan to spend more than about 45 minutes in the water. Even with a hood, 3mm suit is probably a bit thin.

Troy was closed all summer due to unusually high river levels that apparently reverse the spring and cause blackout conditions from tannin.

Lots of organic detritus clumps suspended in the water. A group of kayaking youngsters came by for a swim and kicked up the silt thoroughly, but the spring cleared out in about 20 mins. Then a SCUBA class spent a fair amount of time at bottom and kicked up the silt some more.

This is a good spot to train for current, as it seems to be still and will push you around if you’re not paying attention. No sea grass or other cues to remind you to maintain position.
