Dive # 248 - First dive for NBTT (No beach too tough) , Get out and dive with us! (
http://www.nbttdiveclub.com ) at Vets, been awhile since beet to Vets for a night dive. Its always a unique local dive compared to the mostly kelp forest reefs we normally dive. On this night we encountered about the worst viz you can possibly dive in. Surface chop but low surf in frequent intervals. There were five of us and on first decent we could barely see each others lights and were missing one so we surfaced. The 2nd attempt same thing. We ended up diving just 3 of us and started going down the canyon and viz (surprisingly) seemed like it was getting worse. We turned around and hovered around a decent area at 35 ft where there were lots of crabs, baby halibut, and shrimp to look at. It was definitely a good exercise in situation awareness and team work.
